Best Shopify Product Configurators in 2026: 8 Tools Compared

The right Shopify product configurator depends on what your shoppers change and what your team needs after checkout. An engraved necklace, a photo mug and a sofa in 40 fabrics each need a different tool.

Most tools on the market do one of three things:

  • Product options. Extra fields, file uploads and price add-ons on a standard product page.
  • Personalization. Shoppers add their own text, photos or artwork, and your team receives a print-ready file.
  • Visual configuration. Shoppers combine materials, colors or components and see the result as 2D images or a 3D model.

We compare eight tools across these three types, from a simple Shopify product customizer to a full Shopify 3D configurator. For each one, you get the current price and the plan limits to check before you sign up.

Shopify Variant Limits: When Native Options Aren’t Enough

Since October 2025, Shopify supports up to 2,048 variants per product, up from 100 (Shopify changelog). The limit of three options per product, such as Size, Color and Material, has not changed.

That’s enough for many catalogs. Native variants stop working when:

  • The product needs a fourth choice. A sofa with size, fabric, leg finish and arm style already has four.
  • Every combination needs its own image. 40 fabrics and 6 leg finishes mean 240 photos for one sofa, and that’s before sizes.
  • The input is free-form. An engraving, an uploaded photo or a custom width can’t be a predefined variant.
  • Production needs more than a SKU. A print file, a placement layout or a list of selected components.

A Shopify product customizer handles these choices outside native variants and sends the result to the cart. The tools below differ in how they do it.

Configurator vs. Customizer: What’s the Difference?

Vendors use these terms loosely, and many tools do both. Here is how we use them:

  • A product customizer lets shoppers add their own content, like a name, a photo or artwork. The output is usually a print or engraving file.
  • A product configurator works like a custom product builder. Shoppers combine predefined options such as materials, colors and components. Rules prevent invalid combinations, and the result is a valid configuration with a price.
  • A 3D configurator does the same on an interactive 3D model, usually with AR.

This list covers all three types. Choose by what your product needs.

How We Selected the Tools

We started with common merchant needs and picked tools that are actively maintained and documented for Shopify. For each one, we reviewed the App Store listing and published plans in October 2026, plus integration docs where available. We noted what shoppers can change, how the preview works, what reaches the order and what the merchant has to prepare.

Zolak publishes this guide and is one of the eight tools. We grouped tools by use case and didn’t score them. We also didn’t install and test every app. Prices change often, so check the plan that fits your workflow before you buy.

The groups overlap. Easify is an options app with a live preview, and Zakeke does both personalization and 3D. Compare what the shopper sees on the product page and what your team gets with the order.

Product Options: More Choices on a Standard Product Page

1. Easify Custom Product Options

Easify Custom Product Options listing in the Shopify App Store

Easify is a Shopify product options app that adds fields Shopify doesn’t have: text boxes, file uploads, swatches, date pickers and size inputs with a price calculator. Conditional logic shows or hides options based on earlier choices. Add-on pricing and in-cart editing start on Pro at $9.99/mo. The live preview is on Premium at $19.99/mo.

Best fit: engraving, gift wrap, made-to-measure inputs and upsells on product pages you already have.

Watch for: the preview is a 2D overlay on your product photos. It won’t show how a new fabric changes the whole product.

Product Customizers: Shopper Content and Print-Ready Files

2. Customily

Customily product customizer listing in the Shopify App Store

Customily is a Shopify product customizer for personalized goods. Shoppers add names, photos, maps or clipart and see a live preview. The app creates a production-ready file for every order and connects to POD providers such as Printify, Printful and Gelato. One account can also serve Etsy, Amazon and WooCommerce stores. Price: $49/mo plus $0.10 to $1 per personalized item.

Best fit: personalized gifts, jewelry and apparel, with your own production or a POD partner.

Watch for: the per-item fee grows with your volume. Calculate it at your real monthly order count before comparing with flat-fee tools.

3. Teeinblue

Teeinblue product personalizer listing in the Shopify App Store

Teeinblue is a Shopify product personalizer like Customily, with a stronger print-on-demand focus. It offers templates for wall art, drinkware and apparel, AI photo effects, Canva and PSD import, and connections to Printify, Printful, Gelato, merchOne and ShineOn. The $49/mo plan adds $0.10 to $0.40 per item, with no fee on the first 100 orders each month.

Best fit: POD stores with many templated designs across several shops.

Watch for: most of the work is template setup. Test it on your most complex product during the 14-day trial.

Product Configurators: Materials, Components and 3D

4. Kickflip

Kickflip 2D product configurator listing in the Shopify App Store

Kickflip is a 2D product configurator. It builds the preview from image layers, one for each component, color zone and text area, and shows it from several angles. It supports conditional logic, dynamic pricing and inventory sync with Shopify SKUs. Price: $59/mo plus up to 1.95% per custom product sale. White label and quoting are paid add-ons.

Best fit: sporting goods, bags and footwear with clearly separate parts and existing high-quality renders.

Watch for: no 3D view. You need prepared images of every option from every angle, so asset work grows with each new material.

5. Zakeke

Zakeke 2D and 3D customizer listing in the Shopify App Store

Zakeke combines a 2D personalizer, a 3D configurator, AR and virtual try-on in one app, and creates production files for each order. Plans: Starter $69.90/mo for up to 10 published products, Grow $129.90/mo for 50, Scale $299.90/mo for 100. Each plan adds a 1.5% to 1.9% fee on products sold through Zakeke.

Best fit: products that need personalization and 3D at the same time, such as custom sneakers or engraved accessories.

Watch for: the product cap. A furniture catalog of 100 products needs Scale. Deciding between Zakeke and Zolak? See our Zakeke vs. Zolak comparison.

6. Angle 3D

Angle 3D Configurator listing in the Shopify App Store

Angle 3D is a 3D configurator built only for Shopify. You upload a model, connect its options to Shopify variants and set dynamic pricing. AR is included. Basic costs $39/mo for 10 products. Conditional logic starts at $69/mo, image upload at $99/mo, PDF quotes and bundles at $199/mo.

Best fit: small catalogs with existing 3D models that want to test 3D on a budget.

Watch for: the texture limit per product: 10 on Basic, 40 on Premium ($69/mo), 100 on Professional ($99/mo). A sofa in 60 fabrics needs Professional.

7. Mimeeq

Mimeeq modular 3D configurator listing in the Shopify App Store

Mimeeq is built for complex and modular products. Shoppers build sectional sofas, shelving or lighting from modules, and rules prevent invalid combinations. It connects to ERP systems and Katana MRP. Plans start at $599/mo.

Best fit: modular furniture and products where shoppers change the layout or shape.

Watch for: plan for a setup project. Reviews describe launching together with the Mimeeq team, so ask about timelines early.

8. Zolak

Zolak is a Shopify product configurator for furniture, decor and textile brands, where the buying decision is about materials: fabrics, woods, metal finishes and colors. Shoppers switch materials on a photorealistic 3D model, zoom in on details and see the product in their room with browser-based AR. Built-in rules prevent impossible combinations. The selected configuration and price go to the Shopify cart and order without extra variants.

Zolak isn’t in the Shopify App Store. You add it to the product page with a script, as a pop-up or fully embedded, and products are matched by SKU. No 3D models? The Zolak team builds them from photos and dimensions, and you can reuse them later for catalog images.

Pricing has two monthly parts and no fee on sales:

  • Platform: from $10/mo (5 models, 10 materials) to $250/mo (500 models, 5,000 materials).
  • Configurator: $30 to $125/mo, depending on monthly sessions.

Materials are stored once and shared across models, so 40 fabrics count as 40 however many sofas use them. Example: 50 products, 250 fabrics and finishes, and up to 30,000 sessions a month cost $100/mo.

3D modeling is a one-off cost: $30 to $280 per model and $25 to $40 per standard material. You can try Zolak free for one month. Paid plans have a three-month minimum term, and annual billing saves 15%. See Zolak’s 3D configurator for Shopify for a live demo and integration details.

Best fit: furniture and home brands with wide material ranges and large catalogs.

Watch for: Zolak doesn’t handle shopper text, photo uploads or print files. Geometry changes, such as modular layouts or custom dimensions, are custom work.

How to Choose for Your Catalog

Before you pick a Shopify product configurator, take one product, ideally your most complex, and list what must happen before it ships. Then shortlist by what you sell:

If you sell Shortlist first
Engraved, monogrammed or made-to-measure items Easify
Personalized gifts and print-on-demand products Customily, Teeinblue
Products with swappable parts and existing renders Kickflip
Personalized products that also need 3D Zakeke
A handful of products to test in 3D Angle 3D
Modular sofas, shelving or sectional systems Mimeeq
Furniture and decor in many fabrics and finishes Zolak

Test the Full Path From Preview to Order

Ask each vendor to run your product through these steps on a phone:

  1. Configure the product on the product page.
  2. Add two differently configured versions to the cart.
  3. Change one selection from the cart.
  4. Check out and open the order in Shopify admin.
  5. Show exactly what your production team or supplier receives.

Options, price and production data should match at every step. If they don’t, your team will fix orders by hand.

Count the Content, Not Just the Subscription

Besides the subscription, list what each tool needs from you: artwork templates, layered images for every angle, 3D models, material scans or configuration rules. Decide who updates them when the catalog changes. Add per-item or percentage fees at your real order volume. Selling internationally? Check languages, currencies and units of measurement.

See Zolak on a Live Shopify Store

Selling furniture or decor on Shopify? Here is Zolak on a designer furniture store. Shoppers rotate each armchair, zoom in on upholstery and stitching, and see it in their room with AR, right on the product page.

The Zolak configurator adds material switching to the same 3D models: every fabric and finish your catalog offers, live prices, and the selected configuration sent straight to the Shopify cart. No extra variants and no fees on sales. No 3D models yet? We build them from your product photos and dimensions.

Plans start at $40/mo, and the first month is free.

FAQ

What is the best Shopify product configurator?
For extra options and add-ons, start with Easify. For personalization with print files, try Customily or Teeinblue. For 3D, choose Angle 3D for a small test, Zakeke if you also need personalization, Mimeeq for modular products, and Zolak for furniture and decor in many materials.
What is the best Shopify product customizer for personalized products?
For personalized gifts and print-on-demand, start with Customily or Teeinblue. Both create print-ready files and connect to POD providers. For simple engraving or text fields, Easify is lighter. If the product also needs a 3D view, look at Zakeke.
How many variants can a Shopify product have?
Up to 2,048 variants from a maximum of three options. For a fourth option, free-form input or a production file, you need a customizer.
Do I need a 3D configurator for my Shopify store?
Only if shoppers need to see the product from several angles to decide. Text on a flat print area works fine in 2D. Upholstery, finishes and products with visible depth are easier to judge in 3D, which also enables AR. The trade-off: you need a 3D model of each product.
Should I choose a Shopify app or an embedded script?
An app installs from the Shopify App Store and is billed through Shopify. A script is added to your theme by you or the vendor and billed directly. Either way, check theme compatibility and what reaches the cart and the order.
Do I need my own 3D models?
Not always. Some vendors offer modeling. Zolak, for example, builds models from product photos and dimensions, from $30 per model. 2D tools need layered images or design templates instead, and those take time too.
What's the best Shopify configurator for furniture?
If customers choose fabrics, woods and finishes, you need a 3D configurator that handles large material libraries. If they build their own layout from modules, look at a modular configurator. Try Zolak’s
Shopify product configurator
on a live furniture product page.
